OK, you have a blog, great!
Even better, you blog regularly!
But, whom are you blogging for and are they even reading your writing?
This is where the rubber hits the road in blogging!
It’s not about you!
What value does your blogging bring to your readers assuming you have any?
Or, do you blog about what interests you or, worse yet, blog exclusively about yourself?
(Don’t get me wrong! Occasionally, there’s nothing wrong with doing either of these. It makes you more human to your readers. However, too much and you come across as a narcissist!)
A successful blog is one that your readers look forward to, share with others, and comment on!
How do you decide what to blog about?
Here’s a few ideas:
- Try asking your customers or readers what interests them or what their problems are.
- Visit online forums and see what others are talking about.
- Check your competitors’ blogs. (There’s an original idea, huh?)
Have you tried thinking like your readers?
What would truly be helpful?
What would be worth the investment of your scarce and precious time?
What form should the article be in?
Have you checked your thinking with others?
When you get down to it, writing a successful blog is not that hard when you think about it and work at it.
There are certainly enough successful blogs out there for you to get ideas from!
Remember, a blog is the cornerstone of a successful social media program!
That’s it for now!
