No One Ever Said Social Media Isn't Eventful!

Recently, I learned about the demise of Meerkat.
While discussing this with a friend, she informed me that Blab had given up the ghost too!
Then Twitter announced that it was shutting down Vine and not taking on any new content.  (Want to bet how long those old Vine videos will last?)
Some are now discussing the long term viability of Tumblr.
What’s going on here?
Well, for one thing, Darwin’s theory of the survival of the fittest seems to be getting some very good play.
But, there seem to be new products coming out too.
A friend is trying to get me to try something called Bebo.  (More on this when I actually know something.)
The founders of Blab seem to be moving onto some sort of hang out product.
And, for those who are fearful of not being able to chat in video with friends, those oldies but goodies, Skype, Google+ Hangouts, and Twitter Periscope, are still going strong.
My point in this litany of the dearly departed and the rumored arrival of the next great thing is simple.
Don’t adopt the shiny new thing too early.
Don’t chase every ball that bounces!
Yes, look, investigate, experiment but your most important resources, time and money, are limited.
Use them wisely!
Today’s hot, new product may not be here tomorrow.
Most importantly, have a solid social media program, measure its effectiveness, and keep it current!
That’s it for now!
Also, never forget to reach out to either ask questions or to ask for help from someone like myself!
In the meantime, thank you for following and reading my blog!
