Many create some very good content on a particular social media channel such as LinkedIn.
This is wonderful but often the creators miss a wonderful opportunity to extra lift out of their content by not cross promoting it over all their social media channels.
Let’s talk about this!
Many of the prospective clients whom I meet have multiple social media channels and have even normalized them to present a uniform view to visitors.
But, they neglect the opportunity offered by these channels to post their original content across them.
Why?
The usual reasons for poor social media practices:
- Didn’t think of it
- Too busy to do it even if they did think of it
- Don’t know how to do it even if they want to
When I discuss this with them, the answer is invariably, “Yeah, you’re right! What do I do?”
Actually, the doing is fairly easy.
On your editorial calendar (You do have one, don’t you?) just add columns for your social media channels to remind yourself when to post your content.
Remember to customize your content for the social media channel if necessary!
For example, Twitter tweets don’t work too well on Facebook and shouldn’t be cross promoted.
Another watch out, be careful of the frequency of your posting.
Multiple posts on Twitter don’t go over so well on LinkedIn and may leave you open to charges of spamming!
Automate your cross posting whenever you can.
It’ll make the process less onerous.

Make things easy for yourself!
Cross promoting your content across all your social media channels is a good way to get it out on front of others and have it be noticed.
And, while you’re at it, don’t forget to cross promote the content of others too!
Find a great article and using a social media account manager like Hootsuite schedule across your own social media.
That’s it for now!
