Depending on where in the world you live, like me, you’ve been under some form of lockdown or social distancing for the past five or six months, give or take.
I’ve been preaching about using social media for most of this time.
I know I have been using it and complementary tools a lot.
I believe it’s made a positive difference for me, what about you?
Let’s talk about it!
Before the pandemic struck, my business plan for 2020 had me going to conferences from the New York City area to Boston and up to Maine with plenty of personal contact along the way.
Well, you know the old saying, “If you ever want to hear God laugh, tell Her your plans!”
Her laughter is still ringing in my ears.
So, I switched gears.
Started using a lot more video conferencing, have learned how to live stream multiple channels on social media, and have even dabbled with Second Life.
I switched my approach on what I would do this year and while it’s too soon to tell how successful I’ll be in achieving this year’s original goals, I’m confident that I’m on the right track and leverage this new approach long after the pandemic ends.
(Trust me folks, it will end!)
I’m continuing to engage with my existing clients and contacts, am developing new ones, networking, developing new leads, and I’m learning new things.
So, overall, social media’s been good for me during the pandemic.
(Although, trust me, I really would like to get back to normalcy and the sooner, the better!)
What about you?
Have you seen active results like mine?
If you’re not seeing results then don’t despair.
There’s more than one one to skin a cat here.
(The only reason that should make you despair is if you’re not on social media!)
As opposed to an active approach like mine, you could take a more passive approach.
That is, you have a presence, updating your status, but you use it only to stay in contact with your community, stay abreast of what’s happening in the world, and maintain a minimal interaction.
This isn’t my preferred approach but at least everyone knows that you’re still alive.
It’s a lot better than not being online at all.
Whether you go for an active or a passive approach with social media during the pandemic, choose one or maybe go for a hybrid approach.
Whatever you do, just do something!
I’d love to hear how social media is working for you during the pandemic.
Drop me a line and let us know!
That’s it for now!
